Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. After her father left the family members, she was grew up by her mother, godparents and grandmother. While a small infant, Ford struggled with anxious disorders, obsessive/compulsive and was afflicted by the word association. Ford started to become interested in acting as a teenager, and she joined the National Youth Theatre. After being accepted to Sylvia Young Theatre School for only a few days but Ford realized this was not the best place for her. Ford instead applied to the Central School of Speech and Drama and was able to secure an acceptance on her fourth attempt. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler who is a character that was recurring for Doctor Who. Ford could graduate in 1993. However, she already had her TV debut in the 1992 episode Surgical Spirit. She adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate was on television in the Nineties in shows like The Bill and Men Behaving Badly. Tate was a regular performer on stage and was a member of The Royal Shakespeare Company's 2000-2001 season. Tate began to gain attention because of her stand-up comedic performances in the year 1996.
